Trailer: Marlowe

Learn all about this new thriller

Marlowe tells the story of Philip Marlowe, a private detective who is involved in bad business and lives a lonely life. His luck will change with the arrival of Clare Cavendish, a beautiful woman who hires him to find her ex-lover. This event will turn out to be only a small part of a great mystery to be solved.

The film is an adaptation of the novel The Black-Eyed Blonde: A Philip Marlowe Novel, by John Banville, written by William Manahan and directed by Neil Jordan. Marlowe features an incredible cast, including Liam Neeson (Memory; Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down the White House), Diane Kruger (355), Jessica Lange, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Danny Huston, and Alan Cumming.

Liam Neeson (The Nut Job) always showed great interest in playing this role. The actor himself admitted that during his teenage years, he was a great admirer of Robert Mitchum, who played Marlowe twice. Director Neil Jordan thought Liam could do a great exploration of the character and also made the decision that Marlowe should be Irish so as not to force the accent and bring other elements to the main character.

Marlowe features incredible production and staging work to set the story in 1939. However, as Liam Neeson once said, it has many parallels to nowadays.
