We start this new year with lots of news! This time, the trailer and poster for Academy Award® nominee Hugh Jackman's new film, The Son, are finally here. The film tells the story of Peter, who has a life together with Emma and their baby. However, everything changes when his ex-wife Kate appears with their son, Nicholas, a teenager who is constantly getting into trouble. He is difficult to communicate with, aggressive, distant, and has just dropped out of school.
Here are some interesting facts about the film:
- It is a film adaptation by Florian Zeller's stage play, who is also in charge of directing and co-writing the screenplay of the film.
- This adaptation focuses on the relationship between father and son. It also explores different themes related to mental health: depression, self-injury, and suicide attempts.
- The Son is the sequel to the six-time Academy Award® nominee The Father and is part of a thematic autobiographical trilogy along with La Mère and The Father.
- The film features a talented cast including Laura Dern (The Founder), Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Hopkins, and Hugh Jackman. The latter was recently nominated at the 2023 Golden Globes for Best Actor for his leading role.
- It received a standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival.
The Son will be released in February in all theaters in Latin America.
