Launch trailer! Les misérables

The French film that reinterprets Victor Hugo’s work through Parisian police brutality

The launch of the trailer of Les misérables lets us know better the film that is considered the French film of the year.

The film that was a complete success at Cannes and talks against an unfair system

Directed by Ladj Ly, the film portrays the incorporation of Agent Stéphane (played by Damien Bonnard) to the Anti-Trafficking Unit that patrols the poorest areas of a suburb in Paris.

Everything gets out of control during an arrest where a drone films the movements of the three policemen on the day a child is left unconscious. From then on, the anger of the people of the neighborhood will be felt strongly in a revolt where fear of the police is left behind.

The cast of this story also highlights the performances of Djebril Zonga and Alexis Manenti, such as Chris and Gwada, Stéphane’s abusive new partners.

Inspired by the riots of 2005, Ladj Ly's film changes the narrative until it becomes a captivating police thriller. Presenting new characters and subplots, the film also sets up a portrait of society in the Parisian Montfermeil community, the same place that Victor Hugo used as the setting for a part of Les Miserable in 1862.
