The job of being a scriptwriter: the case of Diablo Cody, responsible for Tully

Oscar-winning American scriptwriter and blogger

Scriptwriters are those figures rarely valued. Although some filmmakers also write their scripts, this craft is the germ and essential support of any story that deserves to be told in the cinema. There are some misgivings among directors and writers for the authorship of the stories, an argument that almost always directors win. However, this tension often flows and is enriched, as between Diablo Cody and director Jason Reitman, both responsible for the film Tully.

Team for a while

Cody, screenwriter and American blogger, forms a great creative duo with Reitman: both were behind Juno, with whom the eccentric scriptwriter won the Oscar for best script in 2007. And later, Cody also wrote the story of Young Adults, directed by Reitman and starring Charlize Theron, who is now also part of the Tully cast.

Cody delivers a great narrative network with his art for actors and directors to display their talents. And the magic is repeated in Tully. There Theron plays a collapsed mother whose life ends up turning around when she hires a nanny (Mackenzie Davis).
