Traveling with Diamond: Before Midnight

Let's take a brief tour of Greece!

Richard Linklater's saga always had the special touch of taking us to the other side of the continent. We got to know Vienna in Before Sunrise, we walked the streets of Paris in Before Sunset, and this time we discover the beauty of Greece with the latest installment.

Let's take a trip to Greece with some locations from Before Midnight.

At the beginning of the film, Jesse says goodbye to his son at the Kalamata International Airport, a very busy place for tourists entering and leaving Messenia, located on the outskirts of Peloponnese.

As the film continues, we get the chance to tour different places, such as the ruins of Ancient Messenia, especially the Ancient Theater. Theater, as some may know, is an art that was born and remained in Greece for many years, and from which emerged different theatrical genres such as satire, tragedy, and comedy.

On the other hand, the film also shows the corridors of the Westin Resort Costa Navarino, a luxurious hotel facing the sea, built with stone, and inspired by local mansions. This is one of the locations where the protagonists have an argument and delve into different conflicts of the couple.

Lastly, you can recognize in several scenes one of the beautiful docks of Kardamili, where Jesse and Celine contemplate the sunset and the starry night.

Before Midnight, starring Ethan Hawke (Juliet, Naked; Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets) and Julie Delpy, brings us closer to Greek culture through the vineyards and the magnificent landscapes of Greek villas. The different characters of this story give us a glimpse of the kindness that characterizes the Greeks, their millenary culture, and different traditions.
