The best movies to watch during quarantine

Don’t let anyone spoil these movies for you!

In light of the global pandemic we are all facing, at-home media consumption has dramatically increased. Therefore, we highly recommend the following options to relax and have a wonderful time.

We’ll begin with Oscar winner for best picture, Green Book, starring Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali, who also won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. The film tells the amazing true story that takes place in the United States during the 1960s when Tony Lip (Mortensen) loses his job and becomes the driver of a musician named Don Shirley (Ali), who will start a concert tour through the south of the country. It is on this journey where the characters will live different experiences not only related to the world of music, and where they will forge a deep relationship where they will put aside their prejudices and start a beautiful friendship.

Our second recommendation is Hustlers which conquered the specialized critics when released in 2019. The return of Jennifer López to the big screen with her leading role as Ramona earned her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Globes. Constance Wu, Julia Stiles, Keke Palmer and Cardi B complete the cast of this movie that tells of a group of women who works at a nightclub and team up to swindle a select group of Wall Street men.

And here is of course a recommendation for horror fans. Scary Stories to tell in the Dark, produced by renowned Guillermo del Toro and directed by Norwegian director André Øvredal. Based on Alvin Schwartz's books, the film tells the story of a group of friends who finds Sandra Bellows' book and, upon reading it, brings to life terrifying monsters that will keep an entire town on edge.

Fourth, After. For all fans around the world, this film has become the greatest phenomenon in the history of the Wattpad platform. Based on the novel written by Anna Todd, it tells the story of Tessa Young (Josephine Langford), a girl with an organized, calm life who meets Hardin Scott (Hero Fiennes Tiffin), a mysterious young man with a dark past, at university. They will live an intense romance, despite being very different, facing difficulties to be together. Will they make it?

Last but not least, here is a family option to enjoy with the kids. Uglydolls is the new film by Kelly Asbury –Director of Shrek. It tells the story of Moxy (voiced by Tini Stoessel), an ugly but adorable doll who lives with her friends - Ox, Babo, Wage, and Uglydog (Pitbull) - in Ugly Ville, a place meant for all the defective dolls who are not selected to share their life with a child. Unhappy with her fate, Moxy embarks on a crazy adventure with her friends to train at the "Institute of Perfection". There they must face the villain Lou (Mario Bautista) but they will also meet Mandy (Sofía Reyes), a perfect doll that will help them finally discover that their defects make them unique and that is something worth fighting for.
