International Journalists Day

Here are three films about this wonderful profession

Today we celebrate this valuable profession in honor and commemoration of the death of Julius Fucik, a Czechoslovakian writer and journalist. This profession consists of investigating, seeking the truth, and defending the freedom of expression. On this special date, we recognize each of the journalists who make it possible to know the different events that happen in the world.

Let's take a brief look at different films that show the hard challenges of this profession:

Nightcrawler: every night while the city sleeps, camera crews with fast cars, expensive cameras, and blaring police radios prowl the outskirts of the Los Angeles Basin in search of a story. These freelance journalists are on the lookout for crashes, fires, and other mayhem to sell the footage to the local TV news. From one police scene to another, they are driven by a simple equation that turns crime and victims into dollars and cents.

Mark Felt: The man who brought down the White Housestarring Liam Neeson (Memory; The Nut Job), the film explores informant Mark Felt, who under the name "Deep Throat", helped journalists Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein uncover the Watergate scandal in 1974.

C’mon c’mon: directed by Mike Mills, the film tells the story of Johnny, a radio journalist who has to take care of his young nephew while he embarks on an endearing trip to interview children from all over the country about the future of the world.

Do you want to watch more films like these? Then we suggest The Report, starring Adam Driver (Logan Lucky; What If) and Annette Bening (Film Stars Don’t Die In Liverpool). This thriller, which is based on true events, follows idealistic member Daniel J. Jones and his boss Senator Dianne Feinstein, who has assigned him to lead an investigation into the CIA's Detention and Interrogation Program, created in the wake of the 9/11 attack. Jones' relentless pursuit of the truth leads to alarming discoveries that uncover the extent to which the nation's main intelligence agency destroyed evidence, altered the law, and concealed a monstrous secret from American society.
