Julianne Moore is one of the most recognized actresses in Hollywood. Her incredible performances, such as in Still Alice - role for which she won an Oscar for Best Actress -, After the Wedding, Suburbicon, among many others, made this incredible woman stand out and display her professionalism.

Here are 10 things that will surely surprise you:

1) Her real name is Julie Anne Smith. 

2) She was born on December 3, 1960 in a military base called Fort Bragg in North Carolina. 

3) Her mother was a psychologist and her father was a paratrooper during the Vietnam War who became a colonel and a military judge.

4) The actress's life was very busy from the time she was born until she turned 18. Why? Because she moved 18 times, that is, once a year, since her father was transferred regularly.

5) She holds dual citizenship: American and British. 

6) She has written seven books, including the best-selling Freckleface Strawberry, a children's book about a cute little red-haired girl with freckles who feels different because of her appearance. She is teased by her classmates at school and goes to extreme lengths to hide her freckles, such as wearing a ski mask. She finally manages to accept herself and discover the true value of friendship.

7) She is a clean freak and even said she is "obsessive".

8) She obtained her driver's license at the age of 27 and learned to swim at the age of 26. 

9) Her first starring role was when she was in sixth grade and played the red-haired girl in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. At the time she had no idea she was going to become a professional actress.

10) She said in an interview some years ago that her favorite movie is Rosemary's Baby (1968).
