Director Sally Potter's most personal film

Her brother's story as a source of inspiration for The Roads Not Taken

As described in a recent Variety review, filmmaker Sally Potter "never takes the easy path." Something that certifies with her next release The Roads Not Taken in which she directs one of the most personal films of her career.

The American magazine focuses on how the renowned filmmaker inspired her new film almost in a “therapeutic” way in the story of her younger brother, the artist and musician Nic potter.

As a way of coping with his death in 2013 as a consequence of early dementia, the artist creates the character of Leo, played by Javier Bardem, who suffers from an unstable state of mind.

The ways of the mind

The film narrates a chaotic day in New York in the life of this man and his daughter Molly, starring Elle Fanning.

At the same time that Leo's mind wanders among the alternative lives that he might have lived had he made other decisions, his daughter tries to find her own path in a very uncertain future.

The film becomes a captivating puzzle through the mind of a man trying to communicate questions of the soul that Molly will not be able to reasonably understand.

With the participation of Salma Hayek and Laura Linney, the film will keep the most demanding spectators totally captivated.
