Adrift: 14 hours of filming at sea

A challenge for Shailene Woodley and director Baltasar Kormákur

Taking a real story that takes place mostly on the high seas to the big screen was a huge demand for the entire Adrift team. In dialogue with the press, actress Shailene Woodley and director Baltasar Kormákur express their feelings.

"I will never forget the first day we filmed in the ocean," recalls the protagonist. "Since we had recorded for a few weeks on land. We barely saw the clouds surrounding us, the storm growing, the wind strong. We started filming and in 20 minutes, we were all dizzy! "

But that work in extreme conditions allowed the movie to be imbued with a very real feature: "this movie almost makes you smell the ocean when you see it, or feel the salt water in your hair. That happens when you film life as it really is," the actress said excitedly.

On the other part, the director opted for a filming strategy that included delays and reprogramming, because: "you have to submit to nature. You are overcoming obstacles the whole time. But that is what makes it more interesting," acknowledges the director.

Adrift. The determination to return to solid land

An adventure at sea ends in the worst way when the small boat manned by Tami Oldham (Woodley) and Richard Sharp (Sam Claflin) faces a terrible hurricane. After the incident, and with the injured boyfriend, she will be in charge of doing everything possible to return to the coast.

Adrift is about to be released!
