Jacqueline Durran

The woman behind Spencer's costume design

Jacqueline Durran is a British costume designer and she is famous in Hollywood for her costumes, especially for those films that have a connection to period literature. Throughout her career, she has been nominated multiple times at the Academy Awards: in 2006, for her work in Pride and Prejudice; in 2008, for Atonement; in 2013, for Anna Karenina, where she won; in 2015, for Mr. Turner; in 2018, for Beauty and the Beast live action version and for Darkest Hours; and in 2019, for Little Women, where she also took home the award.

She is a definitely a woman of great importance in the industry and now we will have the pleasure of seeing her shine once again in the new film by Pablo LarraínSpencer. We have already seen Kristen Stewart's portrayal of Princess Diana in the poster and trailer (watch it again here) that dropped a few weeks ago. There we could see the complete characterization of the actress through her gestures, tone of voice, British accent, makeup and hairstyle, among other details. And it is there where Durran excelled once again, since she also brought to this character everything related to the costumes and accurately achieved all the looks that represented the iconic Lady Di.

The film has been present in important festivals such as Venice, Toronto, San Sebastian, London and it was very well received by specialized critics. It is also expected to be a potential winner at the next Academy Awards.

The film will be released in theaters in November in the United States and we expect to have confirmed release dates in Latin America soon.

Stay tuned!
