Édgar Ramírez was born on March 25, 1977 in Venezuela and, since he was a child, he traveled and lived in different countries because his father was in the military. The experience of his early years gave him the opportunity to get to know different cultures and learn several languages. He later studied Social Communication at the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Caracas. He had planned to pursue a career in journalism but, later, he pursued a postgraduate degree in Performing Arts at the Universidad Central de Venezuela, where he began to explore his acting skills and participated in several short films.
What were his beginnings like? One of his first leading roles was in the thriller Plan B (2002) and a year later he participated in Cosita Rica (2003), a TV series that made him famous in his country. His arrival in Hollywood was with the action film Domino (2005) whose cast included Keira Knightley (Official Secrets, The Imitation Game) and Mickey Rourke. Two years later, he played a CIA assassin in The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) along with Matt Damon (Suburbicon).

Hands of Stone: the film starring Robert De Niro (The War with Grandpa) and Ana de Armas tells the story of the relationship between the legendary boxer Roberto Duran and his trainer Ray Arcel. A story of love and passion set in the Golden Era of boxing with Duran's rival, Sugar Ray, as a reference.
Gold: Kenny Wells is a gold prospector desperate to find something to free himself from his financial problems. Together with a geologist, the two travel to Indonesia in search of a treasure. The film stars Edgar Ramirez, Matthew McConaughey (Serenity) and Bryce Dallas Howard and is based on the 1997 Bre-X mining scandal and inspired by the true story of a modern-day gold prospector.
This year in Latin America we’ll have the chance to see the actor again in The 355 along with Jessica Chastain (Molly’s Game), Lupita Nyong'o, Penelope Cruz, Diane Kruger and Fan Bing-bing, who play a group of agents from different countries' organizations that will try to stop an enemy who wants to get a dangerous weapon.
