Timothée Chalamet’s undisclosed secrets

Did you know this about him?

The name of the young actor Timothée Chalamet sounds strong in the Hollywood industry these days. The 2018 film Call Me by you Name, which he starred in with Armie Hammer (On the Basis of Sex), launched him to worldwide fame and earned him a Best Actor Oscar nomination, making him the youngest actor ever to be nominated. GQ magazine described him as "a generational talent.”

But all that glitters is not gold and Chalamet, at only 24 years old, had to face some not-so-pleasant moments throughout his life and short career. One of these moments was when he worked with Woody Allen (Midnight in Paris) on the film A Rainy Day in New York. The release of the project in 2019 was delayed because as a result of the #Metoo movement, in relation to the sexual abuse taking place in the industry, Allen had to face sexual assault charges. Chalamet was highly criticized for working with this director, but he still managed to break away from the conflict and donated his entire salary from that feature film to organizations such as Time´s Up, the New York LGBT Center, and RAINN.

After this, the actor wrote on his Instagram account: "have, to this point, chosen projects from the perspective of a young actor trying to walk in the footsteps of more seasoned actors I admire. But I am learning that a good role isn't the only criteria for accepting a job."

Another moment where his personal life was under the spotlight was when his romance with Lily-Rose Depp (Voyagers) came to light as they were photographed kissing passionately in Italy. After two years, the relationship came to an end in April of 2020 and by June Chalamet was already seen with a new partner, Mexican actress Eiza Gonzalez. This again brought a lot of criticism from the public but this time the actor said nothing about it.

Where else can we see him?

In Beautiful Boy he plays Nic and Steve Carrel is David Sheff, a father and a son who will go through different situations because of Nic’s drug addiction. The film is based on the book of memoirs of David Sheff, a journalist who tells how he accompanied his son into rehab programmes, often unsuccessfully. A very emotional, fascinating story!
